Step by step
- Sales → Estimates → + New estimate, and under Start from pick a template — search by job (“RTU”, “restroom”, “walk-in”) or tap a trade. Yours come first, then the MEPSub library. Or open Templates on the Estimates page and press Use.
- A template from the MEPSub library comes in priced from your MEPSub Price Book — your price tier, location and crew rates, as of today — wherever the book has the item. Equipment is left for your vendor’s quote, and permits and services for you to price.
- The estimate opens with the template’s sections in order, each with its phase, and its lines. Lines with no quantity are marked TO FILL: they count $0 and stay off the proposal, the portal and invoices.
- Type the quantities straight in the Qty column — Enter moves down to the next line. Add what is missing with the quick-add row at the bottom of each section.
- When the estimate is done, press Remove unused on the grey banner to clear the lines nobody used.
- Priced a job you will quote again? Templates ▾ → Save as template. By default the prices go with it and every line comes back TO FILL; tick Keep the quantities for jobs that are always the same.
- On an estimate you already started, Templates ▾ → Add sections from a template puts a template’s sections after yours. Scope, inclusions, exclusions and terms fill in only where the estimate has none.
- Templates (Sales → Estimates → Templates, or Setup → Estimate templates) lists your templates, then the MEPSub library by trade (HVAC, Plumbing, Controls / BMS, Sheet metal, Refrigeration, Electrical, Service / PM). Open one to see each line’s price; Add to my templates makes it yours with those prices: rename sections, set phases, type your prices, add or remove lines, then Save template.
Tip: Fastest start: open the MEPSub library template closest to your work, Add to my templates, adjust the lines and prices once, and use your copy from then on.
Note: A line marked TO FILL has no quantity yet. It counts $0 and never reaches the customer — type a quantity to use it, or Remove unused when you are done.
