Step by step
- When MEPSub Phone is on, the phone sits in the bar along the bottom of every screen (on a narrow screen, as buttons at the bottom left). A green dot on Phone means it is ready. Allow the microphone when the browser asks — without it calls can’t connect.
- To call out, press Phone, type the number and press Call, or use the 📞 Call link next to any phone number in MEPSub. Your MEPSub phone connects first, then the other phone rings and they see the number shown as “Call from” (the company number unless one is set for you or your group). If you have a desk phone, tick “Ring my desk phone” to make the call there instead.
- An incoming call shows Answer and Decline. A card at the bottom right tells you who is calling — the customer, an open work order, their last call — and when the call ends you can log a call note on it.
- During a call: Mute, Hold (the caller hears music), Keypad (for someone else’s phone menu), Transfer and Park; Hang up ends it. A second call rings in as Call waiting — Hold & answer puts the first caller on hold, and Swap goes back and forth.
- Transfer lists your colleagues with a dot for who is free. Now sends the call straight over. Ask first keeps the caller on hold while you talk to the colleague, then Complete transfer, 3-way or Cancel. “Or a number…” sends it to an outside number.
- Park puts the caller on hold music on a slot from 701 to 709 so anyone can take the call: press Parked or Waiting in the bar and Pick up, or dial the slot on a desk phone. Calls waiting in a queue or ringing the team show there too. A parked call nobody takes rings the team again after 3 minutes.
- Team in the bar shows who is free, ringing, on a call or on do not disturb — Call rings their extension. Set your own status there (Available, Away, Out to lunch, Out of office) and log in or out of the queues. Forwarding holds your cell for follow-me, what each status does (ring my phones, ring my cell, don’t ring me) and your voicemail greeting, PIN and email copy.
- Voicemail (in the bar, or the Voicemail page) has two boxes: Company, which everyone sees, and My mailbox, which only you see. Each message has the audio and a transcript; playing it marks it heard. The Fax button there opens Fax: send a PDF from your fax line and see every fax in and out.
Careful: The MEPSub phone in the browser can’t call 911. Use a cell phone or a desk phone in an emergency.
Note: If a call won’t connect, check that this site may use the microphone — MEPSub shows a message when the mic is blocked or none is found.
Tips
- Out to lunch turns back to Available by itself after an hour.
- Follow-me rings your cell with the company number and asks you to press 1, so your cell’s own voicemail never takes a customer’s call.
- Desk phone shortcuts: *97 your voicemail, *8 pick up a ringing call, ##70# park the call you are on, *78 / *79 do not disturb on / off. The Desk phones guide has the full list.
